Williamson Vineyards - Open That Bottle Night

Open That Bottle Night has been celebrated on the last Saturday of February.

Begun in 1998 by John Brecher and Dorothy Gaiter, who wrote for the Wall Street Journal Wine at the time, the event has since has gone worldwide. It is a call to open that special bottle with friends and share the experience, instead of letting it continue to sit in the cellar. The Williamson family and staff are just as guilty about waiting for that “perfect occasion” to open special bottles.

So to get into the spirit of “living our best wine lives”, we are offering an Open That Bottle Flight on Saturday, February 25.

We dove into our library and pulled out two of the rarest and most notorious wines we could find – 2019 Albariño & 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 Albariño was the first vintage of this varietal we ever released and it hit the big time when it was given a gold medal, awarded Best White and Best in Show at the Idaho Wine Competition in 2020. The 2016 Reserve Cab was from a limited run of 101 cases and quickly sold out in less that 8 months (we barely managed to save any for our library). There are currently 20 bottles left of the 2019 Albariño and 21 bottles left of the 2016 Reserve Cabernet.

Williamson Vineyards wine club members and followers will be eligible to win a wine-rrific gift basket, valued at $140, when they submit a photo of themselves opening a bottle of Williamson wine along with a description of why that bottle was special. Williamson wine enthusiasts can submit by emailing their photo and description to wine@willorch.com. The Open That Bottle Photo Contest* will start Feb 25th and the deadline to submit your photo and description will be Saturday, March 4th. We will announce the winner March 10th.
