LOCAL FUNDRAISER SUPPORTS ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES AFTER DISASTER  Kerry Hill Winery to Host Wine Tasting, Walking Tour and Animal Demos to Support Nonprofit Research and Assistance to Families after Workplace Disasters Survivor of a tragic 2007 airplane accident that killed five members of her immediate family, Wilder resident Mindy Mayer rebuilt her life through the creation of the peaceful hillside vineyard and sheep farm she calls Kerry Hill. Mayer will open her idyllic farm and vineyard for a September 30 fundraiser supporting the Family Assistance, Education and Research Foundation (FAERF), a Louisiana-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers education to employees of companies worldwide in the delivery of trauma-informed practical and emotional support to survivors of commercial disasters, such as the one suffered by Mayer’s family.      Funds raised at the event will support new graduate research on the psychology of recovery, effective strategies for mitigating the trauma of survivors and first responders, and other research related to the field of response to fatal workplace disasters. The fundraiser is open to the interested public, with tax-deductible donations accepted on site through the Foundation.  Starting at 2:00PM, events will include a demonstration of sheepherding with renowned dog trainer, Patrick Shannahan, and a falconry exhibition by Megan Messinger. Participants will be able to tour the winery with Mayer and Foundation organizers, and take part in games and activities throughout the afternoon, followed by a tasting of the award-winning Kerry Hill wines.
